Got email from CIC Singapore last night...

They are now asking my wife to obtain the Certificate of Clearance from the Singapore Police. We had already submitted her Indonesian certificate last year when we applied, but since she works in Singapore we need one from there as well, and they only provide the certificate at the behest of CIC.

We have the links to do and complete the forms, etc., but has anyone got any experience for non-Singaporeans getting this from the Singapore PD? Just curious.

But HERE....THIS is the text of the email that REALLY caught my eye, "Please note that you are not required to attend an interview. You are required to submit additional documents."

Does that mean what I think it means? No CIC interview? We had, and exhaustively addressed, the red flags we noted in our relationship, and were really praying we didn't have to address them again in the form of an interview (not to mention the added wait time!)

What do you guys think?

The fact that they explicitly mentioned that an interview is not required is a very good sign. The biggest impact on timelines for Singapore VO seems to be the interview. Bypassing the interview greatly shortens the timelines. I don't know if that message means that there is no interview required at all or if it means no interview required at this time but at the very least it is a positive.

The only thing it says about the interview at all was what I wrote. They didn't qualify it with anything else.

Generally though, at what stage do they call for interviews? I'm assuming that they are now asking for the time sensitive paperwork (the Indonesian police certificate expires in October), that they have reviewed the evidence we supplied in support of the genuine nature of the relationship and are moving to the final steps.

I can't say for certain for all VOs, but it seems like for the vast majority of them, the longest part of the timeline of an application is simply spent sitting in a queue. Once they finally get to your application and start processing it, it gets processed relatively quickly - if there are no red flags. I recall your case in prior threads and from what i remember, you and your wife had a really solid application. I remember telling you back then that you doubted you would get an interview and I still stand by it. So I would say they are nearly done with processing, feel comfortable that you are in a legit relationship, and just waiting on this one document. Once they have it and verify it, that may be it.

While Singapore timelines listed on CIC's website is like 30 months, this accounts for an interview also. No interview means timelines are much faster. There is a user here "mikeymike" who sponsored his Vietnamese wife via Singapore VO and because they had a solid application, no interview was required and everything was done in less than 6 months.

Yeah, I remember there were a few from Vietnam that went through in amazing time. I'm hoping my wife and I fall into that same good luck.

I'm looking at the timing of the request, relative to the expiry of the other dated documents (Indonesian police check expires Oct.6, and medical expires some time in November), and it makes me wonder if they are trying to perhaps hit those deadlines. The verbiage regarding the interview seemed pretty specific, and somewhat absolute (I hope!)

Yes and you did an excellent job with addressing your red flags. If you come away without an interview, I'd be really thrilled inside as I know I helped you with it a bit
