Was starting to look into doing this since hopefully I will be hearing positive things in the next few months...

So...My question is when listing things, how to determine the value of things?

A $600 camera, new, isnt going to be worth that...

And a $15 pair of socks, isnt going to be worth that much either...used...lol.

If I bring 1000 shirts/sweaters/jeans/socks/shoes...etc...Do I have to count them, price them, etc...

Do I have to limit myself to what I can bring across the first time...I am coming from Texas and don't plan on doing multiple trips.

Can I load up a Uhaul with furniture and tons of stuff, or will they take everything out and examine it all for smuggling and weird stuff...

Thank you for any input!

You can fill out the paperwork ahead of time. I didn't have to do it myself, since all of my stuff was in Canada already, but I would take the time to properly fill it out as need be before the time comes that you need it.

Yep, I know that, I am just asking specifically how do you price things/determine value and how much stuff you can take across the border.

I probably wont be taking my vehicle as my brother has been using and abusing it.

I'm not completely sure, since like I said I didn't have to fill it out. I don't think that you have to price every since individual piece like clothing. Furniture and stuff is a different story I would think? I would just say to put what you think they would be worth? I would think that would be how you do it. I could be wrong though.

If you're American, I'd say importing car properly would be the most important thing. Plus, if you have expensive jewelry or computer/tech equipment, I'd declare it.
As far as clothes is concerned, I think you could just bring them when you cross the border even before the landing.
I think you can be less specific about stuff like clothes (just say ~50 t-shirts and approx. values)
You can bring in U-haul as long you list the items in the truck. But, seriously.. you wanna bring all your used stuff?
I made my spouse throw away most of the stuff and downsize and bring all clothes whenever crossing the border including tv, monitors, etc., so all we have left is a car, which we can't bring it unless we're landing.
If you get pulled up in secondary at border, they will go through ALL your stuff in the truck looking for drugs or guns.
So far we've been lucky and brought all the small appliances as a gift to me whenever we cross border together.

Thanks Carabou,

I wont be taking my vehicle as my brother has used and abused it, even though it was a nice vehicle. 2010 limited Rav4...

Anyways, I wont be doing any crossing prior, except to land, as I live in Texas and I do not get to go back and forth without a 20+ hrs drive :)

I am also bringing 2 dogs and all of their stuff, and a few furniture pieces (all used/old), as my husband has just bought a new house and he was living in apartments up to then, he hasn't acquired much furniture.
