Dear All
I have been following this forum for quite sometime and have got great help during my Work Permit applications and others. Thanks.
I have explained by case in detail hoping that some of you have got patience and time to responsd to my concerns and questions please.

I worked from OCT-06-2010 till June-24-2011(258 Calendar Days) in Toronto on Work Permit and returned back to India and was working for the same
empoloyer's office in India.

My employer once again applied for Work Permit in Sep'2012 and was rejected as we didnt obtain the LMO.
So the LMO was obtained and filed for WP in March 2013 and got the work permit(for 3 yrs & valid until 2016)
and i have been working for the same employer since March-10-2013 in Toronto.

Though i would be eligible to apply for PR under CEC by end of June 2013, i may wait until Sep 2013 to file for PR. I am in the process of
understanding the required documents from the "Document Checklist", thats when the below questions popped up and would really appreciate if any of you could answer.

I will be applying for my Wife and Daughter(3 Years) as they are with me on Visitor Visa & i will be the Principal Applicant.

1.Proof of Language Proficiency: Should my Wife also take the IELTS exam, or is it sufficient if I alone take the IELTS exam

2. Work Experience in Canada: I have a copy of te T4 tax information slips from my employer(2010 & 2011), but i dont have a "Notice of assessment/reassessment" .
So i called up the CRA to see if i can get a duplicate and they told as i didnt file for TAX returns i wouldnt have one.So is there a way for me to get the "Notice of assessment".

3. I am going to check with my Employer to see if there is a way to get the experience letter on their letter head but not really optimistic if i would
ever get one. So is there an alternate way for this.

4. Lastly, is there any Law firms that any one have used and would suggest, though i am not really keen on using the service(as i wudnt be able to afford) but any firms who help
with alternate documents for above

Regards
PK

1. Only the Principal Applicant needs the IELTS test.
2. Not sure about this, maybe someone else can comment.
3. You absolutely NEED the reference letter. Single most important document that you will submit.
4. I think you should be able to get all the info you need on this forum. But there are applicants who have used lawyers, and they may be able to recommend a good one.

No, Just Principle Applicant need to proof of language proficiency (IELTS or CELPIP)

2. Work Experience in Canada: I have a copy of te T4 tax information slips from my employer(2010 & 2011), but i dont have a "Notice of assessment/reassessment" .

I think you even can file your Tax return now I am not sure, call CRA and tell them you wasn't in canada to file tax, but need to file it now. anyway, if you don't have recent notice of assessment you can write a letter and explain why. enclose the explanation letter with application.

3. I am going to check with my Employer to see if there is a way to get the experience letter on their letter head but not really optimistic if i would

well they really need the job reference letters of your past and current employers within 3 years. I was amuse when you say your employer doesn't write letters on their letter head. any way try to get a letter with what they request from employer. ask them to mention about these concern.
• the specific period of your employment with the company,
• the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time spent in each position,
• your main responsibilities and duties in each position,
• your total annual salary plus benefits,
• the number of hours worked per week.

4. Lastly, is there any Law firms that any one have used and would suggest, though i am not really keen on using the service(as i wudnt be able to afford) but any firms who help

even you go for the law firm they request these too, as there are no alternate for these document cause these are highly requested document by CIC. any way if you have Catholic Social service in your area, they have immigration specialists so you can go and ask help for free. good luck.

The way to get a Notice of Assessment is to file a tax return. You can still file for 2010 and 2011 - they are late and there might be some penalties, but there is no choice. CIC isn't going to approve anyone who doesn't pay their taxes :)

If you are not sure how to do this, you should get some help from a tax preparer (H&R Block is one - this is not a recommendation, only that they are probably the biggest chain). Another option might be to see if there are Immigrant / Newcomer services in your community, these often include help with tax returns; also there are many volunteer clinics, these usually are for people who earn less than a set amount - for Ontario, you can look here-
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/vlntr/clncs/on-eng.html

I should add - do this as soon as possible. If this is your first return, it will take CIC longer to process it; also, because it it late, it might take some extra time. In other words, after you file your return, you will wait 2-3 months, maybe longer, to get the Notice of Assessment.

Dear All,

I currently live in Toronto. I have close to 2 yrs of work experience in Canada.
My first employer had closed their office in Canada but i do have the offer letter from them when i joined the company.
I do also have the T4 slips and the biweekly pay stubs from that company for the whole period.
So how do i proceed in giving the experience letter for my first employer who closed their office in Canada.
Can somebody give some guidance on this ??

Thank you.

The Reference letter is most imortant KEY document in CEC, you need to to find your previous employer or alteast your previous supervisor to help you in this....... In any way if you couldn't get the letter.......give an explanation stating the company is closed.........and Try your Luck........I guess almost 75% of the rejections in CEC are based on REFRENCE LETTER (or) the NOC issues......
