I am a international student in Canada. I plan to go to US on September 2, but my visa is expired on August 29 and my study permit does not expired.
And my friend has the similar situation with me. He has single visa but a valid study permit.

Yes, as long as you only go to US or ST. Pierre et Miquelon and return within the validity of your study permit. I am assuming you have a US visitor visa.
