I've read several posts about how to get the PR card when one must leave Canada before the normal waiting period of 3-4 months.

The conventional wisdom is to have the PR card mailed to someone with access to your home, who will then courier the PR card to you abroad.

The problem is, I just now got around to reading IMM 5445, which describes the process for applying for a PR card. The IMM says one must pick up the PR card in person; it does not say that first-timers can have it mailed to "them" in Canada.

Can someone direct me to the place that says a first-time PR can have the PR card mailed?

Thanks Steaky. Could you pl confirm that when we are supposed to fill in COPR (I understand it will be provided from CHC along with the PPR) with the address for our PR card to mailed in? Is it during landing or well before? The reason of asking is if we have to put the address well before then it might change during the time of landing (with the fact of getting better option of a friend address/relative or even a shortstay). Pl advise...

The COPR will be filled-up by the immigration officer at landing. They will ask the information from you and fill-up the form and ask you to sign.
