Hello, due to the circumstances, I am not able to start the process until March of next year. Am I able to Stay from November 2016 to March 2017, then apply for a extended visitor visa ( I am from USA ) And ask for 15 months, so I can become common law. Is this plan plausible? Will I be able to extend it for 15 months on top of the 6 months I would have stayed? Thank you!

Try as I might, I can't understand your math. ;)

If you re-enter Canada this November and are authorized to stay for ~ 4 months, you would apply for an extension before the last day of your legal status, but would only need ~ 8 additional months to become eligible for common-law sponsorship. Anything more than the ~8 months, would be a bonus.

Why are you saying that you will "start the process in March of next year." What does that mean? You will, in essence, start the process when you return to Canada in November to start the one-year clock to reach common-law status.

Why would you ask for 15 months to become common-law?

You are planning to submit an Outland application, when you are eligible to apply, right?!

due to our state that we are in, I can not sign onto her lease exactly till march so I will be living with her relative very closely to her but visiting often. because of this I am pretty sure I can't start the common law process until March. but my question being, could I stay there until march but apply in januaryish to extend my stay for 15 months? also yes I we will apply outland, but I will try visiting her while waiting for the application to go through, so extend the stay again.

Do you need a visa to enter Canada? If you are an American, you do not need one. Usually you will be allowed in for 6 months. About one month before that ends you can apply to extend your stay (your status as a visitor). If you say you want to establish common-law status, they often give one year extensions. If they only give another 6 months, you can reapply to extend it about one month before it expires. And continue doing this.

Okay thank you, I heard it is easier to get a extension after you get the first one, is this true? Also, could I use her mothers paycheck amount's and show that as proof of financial help? Since she get's a lot from her mother who has a good amount of money. And also use my parents?

You would have to get letters or affidavits from them stating they will be supporting you.

okay thank you :) but they are eligible to be able to provide for me? (are you also more likely to get accepted again for a second, or third extension after you were accepted before?

Also, since I can not sign onto her lease till March and live with her until then, is it possible I could stay with family until from now until March, and ask for a year extension from then, so I can get common law?

For CIC, they are not officially providing for you. It is just that if you do not have enough money of your own, or if you are worried when it comes time to sponsor that the visa officer might think you and your girlfriend don't have enough money, then you can get letters from family or friends explaining that they will be supporting you.

I am not sure about the second question, but I think that if all goes well with the first extension (for example, you have not been caught working) a second extension is easier.

BTW, why can't you live with your girlfriend until March? Even if you are not on the lease, couldn't you still live there? You would then need other ways of proving cohabitation, of course.
