I just received my study permit in the second week of January'16 ( I'm already in Canada). I would be getting married this month and soon applying for my few residency & Work Permit (under Spousal Sponsorship). Just wanted to know, if would still need to attend school (take up the program) or is it okay to stay in Canada until I receive my work permit?

Could somebody please advise?

I would remain in school until you have your work permit. Your study permit will be automatically canceled if you drop out of school for more than 90 days. This could be a problem if for some reason your inland application is returned (e.g. missing forms, missing signature, outdated forms) and you're out of status by the time you receive the paperwork back. We've actually had a handful of people this has happened to recently. For that reason, I agree with the recommendation to remain in school until the OWP is approved.

Thank you Scylla!
