Hello there, i'm getting married in January by I had my medical done on October 21, 2013. No update yet about my medical. Application still in process.
Is the spouse may add on the application right away, or better to wait the PR and then do spousal sponsorship?
Can I apply him an open work permit?
Please share your ideas. Thanks.

It depends on what stage is your PR application by the time you are legally married. If you are yet to be assessed, then you could add your spouse name immediately after marriage, if a decision is already made, then you can sponsor later.

In your next email from CPP for passport request, there will be a question as to whether you intend to get married prior to becoming a permanent resident. You can answer yes to the question and CPP will follow up with you.

When you get married, collect all documents like marriage certificate, spouse's birth certificate etc (consult the checklist), and contact CIC about your marital status.

Please e-mail us (OttPilot-Immigration@cic.gc.ca) in any of the following cases:

You change your marital status
There is a birth or death in your family.
You change your mailing, residential or e-mail address if you reside outside of Canada**.

**If you reside in Canada, you must use the CIC’s online form to change your contact information.

It is up to you to keep your contact information up-to-date. If you do not keep your contact information up-to-date, it could delay the processing of your application. Please quote your complete application number (letter “E”, “EP” or “F” ) followed by eight or nine digits in all correspondence with our office.
