Hello friends,
My fiance is soon going to submit his EE application under FSW, in a week or two. I am already a PR and live in Canada. I want to know if we get married after he submits his PR application, do we have to notify the CIC? And if we do, since I am already a PR what happens? How much more longer does the process delay?

Experts please advise
Thanks

There won't be any problem that will arise in a near future.
  1. If you are marrying before eAPR :Your spouse will be submitting additional documents to substantiate your marriage claim. He will also claim additional points since you are already landed in canada and have PR. Smooth process.
  2. If you are marrying after eAPR application submission: Your spouse has to raise case specific enquiry under https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx. The process might delay but will go through successful.
Hope it helps.

Hi

Yes, he needs to notify IRCC if he gets married. As you are a PR and will not need to be added to his app, there will be no delay.

There are no additional points granted for having a PR spouse.

Thank you for the correction. Yes, he/she should be a canadian citizen to claim point.
