Hi, I would like to ask if it's ok to get married outside canada after getting my PR card? Will I be aable to sponsor my spouse then? How long will it take for us to be together? and how long can he move to canada? big thanks
Yes - you can get married outside of Canada after getting your PR card.
You can sponsor your spouse then - however you must be living in Canada when you submit the application and you must continue living in Canada while the application is being processed.
How long it takes will depend on where your spouse is from.
Thank you for the quick response.
I would like to ask if after I get married should I update my surname in my passport and other documents before going back to canada or this isnt necessary until I landed?
Will this affect my PR status even if I my PR is just 6 m0nths old?
Thank u so much again.
