Hi guys,

I went through the forum but could not find a case similar to mine. Hence, I started a new topic. Please redirect me if there is an existing similar topic not to make it redundant.

I have applied for PR via express entry and below is my status while declaring myself as single.

We received your application for permanent residence on September 14, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on September 14, 2015.
We started processing your application on September 23, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

I am planning to get engaged soon and would like to get married by April next year. I am in Canada for more than 3 years and my fiance is in India. How do I go about it?
Should I get married sooner and include her in my application? I have heard that spousal sponsorship takes ages.

1. how soon can I get her to canada ?
2. Can I bring her into canada at least with a visitor visa and then apply for PR inland?

Your feedback and opinions on this topic would be appreciated ! Thanks !!

Spousal sponsorship takes a ridiculous amount of time now but the Liberals promised to prioritize it, perhaps over economic class. And they also pledge to remove the 2 year wait time for spouse visa, but that hasn't realized yet. (the government sworn into office just 5 days ago)

You have to let CIC know as soon as you get married. You may declare her as common-law partner, if that is applicable.

Whether you rush to get married and include her in the application is your decision.

Btw, congrats on your engagement.

Thanks mf4361!

It does look like with options at disposal, it is better to include her in EE application after declaring marriage.

Uncertainty looms, hopefully Mr. Trudeau addresses this issue before christmas and provides a timeline on the necessary course of action.

Would you know if applying for visitor visa while PR application for spouse is in process acceptable and successful?

Thanks Russian.

I am have a PGWP and applied under express entry inland. The thread looks more relevant to outland applicants.
