Getting back into Canada without PRTD

Hi. I'm a Canadian PR and my card expired in January. I have started the process for a renewal about 2 months ago. Anyway here's my problem. My mum become sick on 29 august I rushed back to the UK to be with my mum. My Canadian wife come with me. Sadly my mum passed away the morning after we arrived. We knew we would have to do a PRTD, what we didn't know was it could take 2 months to get back. We have emailed everyone we can think of with no reply. We also have our local MP on Vancouver island trying to help. Is there any compassionate way I can re enter Canada with an expired PR card. I just want to be back home with my wife and girls at this time. My wife went home 2 days ago. Thank you in advance for your help

Fly into the US and cross the border. No PRTD or PR card required.

Agreed with the comment above, apart from waiting for the PRTD, the only other option is to fly to the US and then re-enter Canada through a US/Canada land border using a private vehicle.

Thank you for your replys. I bought my ticket into Seattle ready to go to the peace arch boarder crossing. However I had to cancely flight because uk citizens are not allowed in the us as of yet

Ah - that sucks. I'm not familiar with the US travel restrictions in place at this time.

Unfortunately your only option is to wait for the PRTD in that case.
