EDIT: just realized the typo, I am asking about a STUDY permit not a work permit, I apologize for the confusion.

Hello I am a recent Vancouver Film School graduate from the US. Right now I'm trying to get a work permit but if I had a bachelor's degree it would be much easier.

I can continue my school at BCIT and I would be able to get the bachelor's. However I am short on money and my plan is, if I can't find a job I will go home to the states and save up money over there, and then come back for BCIT in the fall.

That means that my current study permit would expire at the end of November, and then next fall I would have to apply for ANOTHER study permit to go to BCIT.

I'm worried, will I be able to do this? Or are study permits a once in a lifetime chance sort of thing? If I really needed to, I could apply for BCIT right away before my current permit expires.

Study permits are not once in a lifetime so sure you can apply again as long as you can put forward a good case to qualify much same as you did for your first study permit. So as before you need an offer letter and proof of funding etc... PGWPs on the other hand are a once in a lifetime opportunity so not sure what your post heading is about referring to a second work permit ?

Thanks for your reply. I just realized that I made a typo and wrote work permit instead of study permit.
