Any stories about job searching after COPR but before landing? Interviews from abroad via Skype? Entirely possible? Any success stories? How did you manage?

Since you dont have a SIN number yet at that point, you might still have a hard time.

Might just be easier to wait a bit longer until you actually finished your landing.

I second that. The fact is the employer can't withhold and remit taxes from your salary there is no way they can employ you.

But the idea is not to get employed before I land... Just to have interviews and if and employer is interested go ahead and agree on a day to start after I land. For example, after speaking to potential employer, agree to start in 30 or 40 days, then arrange my landing for that date, so when I land I can start right away.

Most employers and even recruitment agents will want to meet you in person. You can certainly send them your resume and inform them of the date etc you plan to arrive and when you may be available to attend a potential interview. The fact is though the vast majority prefer to do it face to face and will not even bother with Skype or telephone interviews because they can't accurately judge traits such as punctuality, and other characteristics they can only get from an in person face to face interview.

I tried to do this -- no luck, not even in Nain, Labrador. You aren't in the community, so you don't have any skin in the game; the employer knows that if you get a better job in a different province you'll probably go there. Plus you don't have a SIN yet, and literally anything could go wrong; maybe you'll be stopped at the border for not having enough money, maybe your wife will decide she doesn't want to go to Canada. Employers aren't immigration experts, they don't know how all the stages go through, and they don't know you either.
