I was landed on Jun 10 2012 and I did applied for PR under Spousal sponsorship category.
When I was landed the Immigration officer told me that I can be able to work or to study.
I was asking if I can work without having a social insurance number because apply PR under spousal sponsorship I have to wait for my PR card t be able to apply for SIN. Immigration told me that I need to let someone that will would hire me that I will give my SIN later after I get my SIN.
I am really confuse right now because I got a job and they want my SIN. I went down to the local immigration office but they don't accept walk-in service. I have been told to call 1-888-242-2100 and book an appointment to be able to get the service. I did call to 1-888-xxxx but don't know how to get hold on someone to help me. The system is way to difficult for us to even ask simple question.
I would like to ask if anyone has this problem before willing to help me or just know enough to give me a solution to this matter.
Thank you very much for your help.

Which province are you in? If you're in Ontario, you go to Service Ontario, you just need your COPR and proof of address (which I believe might be on your COPR) to get a SIN. Immigration has nothing to do with getting a SIN.

COPR and proof of identification (your foreign passport works just fine) gets you a SIN number at any Service Canada office.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciated. I live in Saskatchewan. I do have my CORP and probably will go down to Service Canada tomorrow to get my SIN.

Don't forget your passport! Here's the application if you want to take a look at it ahead of time.
