Hi Guys,

I am having a bit of confusion as to what my answer should be for question number 3 on the Generic App form.

3. How many family members, including you, are in this application?

My common law wife is sponsoring me and my daughter who is 10. My wife and I also have a 4 year old daughter together.

Please help someone.

Your wife is your sponsor so she is not included in the total.

You would need to explain a little more about your wife. Is she PR? Is she a naturalized Canadian? Was she born in Canada? Assuming it's a straightforward situation - your wife is a Canadian citizen born in Canada - then your daughter with her is also Canadian by default if she was not born in Canada. You should have already, or be in the process of, getting your daughter's citizenship established as Canadian.

You will list both your wife and youngest daugher on the additional family information form, but they would not be included in the PR application as dependants because they don't need PR to move to Canada.

So your total is 2. Your first child and yourself.

Oh I see! That makes sense :)

Yeah my wife is a born Canadian and so is our 4 year old. Me and my 10 year old daughter are the only Non Canadians so to speak.

Thanks for your help!
