Just to get an idea that do we really require an Agent for this process or we can manage the entire PR Process on our own.

How many are actually self applying or how many are using an Agent for this.

Regards,

I did it on my own !! ;)

Actually my brother is helping me out since he has a lot of experience in this. He hired a Canadian immigration lawyer for processing his PR and helped a lot of his fellow mates to process.

In my opinion i would suggest to go on your own instead of hiring an agent because the agents will always go by the book that makes some part of the process problematic for us. I have went through a lot of threads here saying that the agents cause a lot of issues where they strictly stick on to the book lot of the folks in the thread suggested to fire him.

Even my brother hired a lawyer but it was long back (before express entry and FSW) where no one were sure about the process. But now almost the process in entirely visible also we have this forum for anything we need.

The funny thing is at least 3 out of 10 around you would be applying for Canada PR and that 3 would be either your neighbor or a colleague ;). So help is always around you !!

Applied on my own. Current waiting for COPR. :D

This forum is a great resource.

You should do it by your own. Agents are not much of the help and they do not provide you alternate. Like one of my friends gave 75K INR to one of the agent. When it came to ECA, agent did not even told him about other agencies than WES. His masters were not accessed by WES. But when we did an online search we cane to know that he can go through ICAS, IQAS and others as well. Most of the information is available online and this forum is quite helpful.

Immigration, just like taxes, is too important to leave to an agent/attorney/lawyer/specialist/etc.

EDIT: I need to qualify the statement above. It only applies to countries with rule of law. Agents may be useful to deal with corrupt officials.

It all depends on your case. If you have a complicated case, then you should go hire a lawyer, NOT an agent or a consultant. If your case is a straight forward case, this forum is more than enough and for any specialized or complicated issue, go see the information posted by @legalfalcon or you can post your questions on his thread. He even has a WhatsApp group and is very helpful.

That guy rocks, and above all he is a damn lawyer!

I got my entire application filed with his help, reading his posts, and asking questions where I was stuck.

All the best!

Applied on my own. Current waiting for COPR. I do not get why anyone would need an agent as most of the information is easily understood from the Official website, and for everything else this forum is SPOT ON !

I have been doing it through a migration firm and I am thoroughly frustrated and annoyed.

As some members here rightly advised, unless you have a complicated case that needs a thought of solution, please do it yourself.

You need to invest some time doing research and bit of daily reading but it will be worth it as you will understand the process yourself.

Any doubts, there are enough number of good hearted Samaritans here ready to advice and assist since all are more or less sailing in the same ship. Some reached their destination, some getting there.

On my own. Saved a lot of money but sacrificed a lot of time just to make sure we didn't do anything wrong on our application. Worth it, though! Waiting for passport with visa stamp and COPR. :)
