General Query About Work Permit

Hello Everyone,

I am currently enrolled in 3-years advance diploma program. But i want to make it 2 year because 3rd year is no use of me. So, i asked from college, they said they will make it 2. But the problem is that is it affect work permit.
i mean after making it 2. Can i directly apply for work permit? and can i go back to India between in this work permit process?

You need to graduate from the program in order to qualify for PGWP. It doesn't sound like you can get proof of graduation if you don't complete the full program but you should probably do more research. Is there an actual program offered with the 2 year curriculum? You could transfer to that program.

Actually, i am in computer programmer analyst program which is 3 year advance diploma. and i can move to 2 year computer programmer diploma. this means i will get my certification after course completion. but my study permit and visa are still 3 years. and i have to go back India for brother's marriage. And i read that we have to apply for work permit within 90 days. So, am i able to apply from India or else can i apply from here and then go back for marriage without any problem.

If your college will grant you a diploma from another program yes you can apply for PGWP. You are correct you must apply within 90 days. Your study permit will be cancelled if you don't attend your school for 90 days. Ýes you can apply from outside of the country. See the application guide.

ok thank you. but if they will cancel my study permit.this means my visa too get cancelled?

If you have a valid TRV it will not get cancelled. You will need to make sure it is valid to enter Canada again and have proof that you have applied for PGWP or that you have received your PGWP. It is all in the instruction guide.
