GCSE's and A levels what is the natural progression in Canadian Education

My children will be finishing there GCSE's and A levels, we would then come out post July(2011) but with my youngest what would she goto from just finishing here GCSE's(ie next stage would be A levels) and what would my oldest who would finish her A levels go onto do. (ie next stage would be University). If so when do we need to apply for courses etc.

what courses r u referring to? u mean programs in the Uni or just individual courses? Pls clarify.

As for GCE A levels, yr kids can apply to unis using their O and A levels. Most unis in canada require A level entries and admission is based on O and A levels.

A level subjects may be granted certain credit exemptions or credits for the subjects they have taken. It is dependent on the unis.

Hi ,
I ve got the same query.My eldest son will be finishing his O levels by June/July 2011, so I am planning to land in Aug/Sep 2011 .I need to know will the Canadian High schools accept his O levels grades(his subjects are Physics,chemistry,maths,biology,english,urdu,P studies & Islamic Studies) or he will have to waste his 1-2 yrs.I ve heard tht Canadian high school consists of grades 10-12,whereas in British system we ve got a combined exam for grades 9-10 th and separate for 11th n 12th.
I ll be grateful anyone could provide me any authentic link for understanding high school education system in Canada.I am planning to reside in Alberta.

Dear forum members I have question regarding education kindly help me out...

1. 1985 - 1995 10 yr education (secondary) 10

2. 1995 - 1998 Intermediate (high school) 2

3. 1999- 2001 Bachelor of arts 2

4. 2005 - 2006 Graduate diploma 1
(not completed)
5. 2006 -2007 diploma in business 1

6. 2007 - 2009 Masters 1.5

No.4 the graduate diploma was not completed, my question is that after secondary school, there is gap of one year which i have included in high school. as i was sick at that time and on bed rest so, will it matter for CHC if so then how can i justify it..

pls advise regards
