Hi everyone,

I am currently in the security check stage. On my previous GCMS notes, the code s.15 (1) showed on many pages, in the upper right corner. On the GCMS notes I received today, the code changed to s.19 (1) only on the two pages related to security clearance (under Admissibilities).
I know that these are codes of some acts that require the information to be hidden. Does anyone know if this change has any significance? I mean does it imply that certain checks are completed and other checks have started and results of those checks are being entered and hidden according to the ACT? Does anyone know what type of checks are done under each act? s.15 (1) and s.19 (1)

Thank you.

Any thoughts?

Did you and your spouse sign a consent form to release your information?

If one of you didn't sign a consent form then your information will be excluded.

Under the Access to Information Act:

s.19: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/A-1/page-4.html#docCont Relates to personal information (looks like there was a missing consent form)

s.15: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/A-1/page-3.html#h-11 Relates to the security screening and assessment they have conducted / are conducting.

No we did not sign a consent form when we filled the application. The only consent form my husband signed is for me to request GCMS notes on his behalf.

Thank you for sending the links. I read through them. I am still confused though about why it changed from s.15 (1) to s.19 (1). I mean if s.15 (1) relates to information about security screening and assessment and s.19 (1) relates to personal information, it makes more sense to me to see both codes still there on the page. Unless security screening results are considered personal information and now hidden under act s.19(1). What do you think?

s.19(1) information about your partner is hidden
s.15(1) you have passed security. It will not revealed to you what sources they used.

s.15(1) does not mean you passed security. Ive had that for months and my security is still in process. It just means it started.

My understanding, you have not reached the due date of your eligibility. When you reach at that point, your file will go for final review and you will get your DM. You can see in your GCMS notes.

I have passed that date a long time ago, it was July 1st 2016. It really is security checks that are taking long. Why would the VO and Mp lie to us?

I wouldn't say they lie ,it's a strong word. Rather I would say this is a generic answer rendered to everyone. There could be multiple reasons for delay CPC busy, short of staff, number of applicant need to be allowed every year and of course priority cases like Syrian and iraqis.

Hi I_Miss_Him,

I found a few links that might help with explaining your GCMS notes

s(19) www .oic-ci.gc.ca/eng/inv_inv-gui-ati_gui-inv-ati_section_19.aspx

s (15) www .oic-ci.gc.ca/eng/inv_inv-gui-ati_gui-inv-ati_section_15.aspx

Hi Asrsmam,
Thank you for the links. I had already read them before but unfortunately they do not provide an answer to my question. I know what each subscription is for but I was wondering why it changed from s.15 to s.19. What happened to the information that was protected under s.15? Was it erased and replaced with personal information? Is this a negative sign or a positive sign. This is my question.

Regards.
