Wherever u r your Lawyer/Consultant should be collocated IMHO, ie in the same city or it's vicinity. This is for ease of communication & commute to meet him/her personally.

Many things cannot be dealt over phone/email or by couriering. Besides, they consume unnecessary time/effort/energy.
