Hello

I'm hoping someone has been in a similar situation or knows the answer here. I'm applying for PR through EE and I'm starting to look at getting documents in place for (hopefully) when I receive an ITA.

I foresee a potential issue in that my surname differs from my birth certificate. When I was young, my mother remarried and I was given my step-father's surname. Nothing was legally required in order to do this and no formal deed poll or similar was done. I just started using the new surname and have been known by this ever since.

So...I have no proof or evidence of change of name. Is this likely to be an issue?

Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance!

1. I have to assume that your passport is in your birth name, since no adoption or name change (as you say) was ever entered.
2. You are going to have show the name you presently use in the "other name used section" and attach an explanation.

Thanks,

The passport is in my current (used) name and not in my birth name. My surname was changed by my parents before I had my first passport. My first passport used my then current (and now current) surname.

I have absolutely no way to evidence change of name. It is just the way that it works in the UK when a parent changes a child's surname.

Is this going to be a real issue?

Thanks
