Hello all,
My Study permit expired August 30th and I received my post-graduation work permit September 20th.
My questions are:

1. What do I call this 21 days period, a waiting period for cic decision, implied period as an international student, implied period as a temporary worker.

2. Do I include it in my calculator or do I leave it as a gap period. I have more than the necessary required days for my application.
2.a. If I include it, what type would it be on the calculator: "Visitor", "International Student", "Temporary Worker", "Temporary Resident Permit Holder"

1. Assuming that you applied for your work permit before the study permit expired, you were on implied status, so I would call it exactly that. If you switch from one status to another (worker to student or student to worker), then during the implied time you are not allowed to work or study. You are only allowed to stay in Canada. So that means you were neither a worker nor a student during that time.

2. you were legally present in canada as a temporary resident. you just didn't have a work or study permit. Those days still count as physical presence. Include them in the calculation.

2a. pick whatever you think is best and apply the golden rule:

The golden rule: Any form can never capture every possible situation someone was in. If you feel like the form doesn't allow you to give the correct information, simply attach a separate page explaining it.

I'm in a similar situation. @energym can you please tell me what you ended up putting?

I didn't include the gap period because I have more than enough days for my app, I included a note to explain why. I got my AOR and IP, but still waiting for test invite.

Thanks for letting me know. I might just do that.
All the best!

Hello everyone,
I have a similar question. I was checking physical presence calculator for citizenship application.

My student permit was expiring on July 30th 2017, i had already applied for my work permit before that. But my work permit was issued on August 31st 2017. So how do i add that one month gap in my physical presence calculator as a temporary resident before PR?

There is no option for implied status.
I became a permanent resident on Dec 24th 2018.

Thanks

I have the same situation, one month gap between permits, hopefully somebody knows better

I was in the same situation. I am assuming you are talking about the table in Question 9. I put the following on my form. I have since received AOR and my application is in process.

Status: Temporary Resident Permit Holder (applied and waiting for status of Post Graduate Work Permit)
Date status obtained: Day after study permit expired
Date your status expired: Day before receiving PGWP

Thank you, Did you also have permits that overlaped ? if so, would the new permit start before the previous finish in the table ?

Do you mean different types of permits that overlapped (e.g. study permit and work permit) or same type of permit that was extended (e.g. original study permit vs. extended study permit)?

If it is the first case, then no I have not experienced that. If it is the second case then I assumed that the whole status was continuous (i.e. start date of student status was start date of original permit until and the end date was the expiry date of extended permit).

Hey guys, I am in a similar situation with a gap of only 30 days between my study and work permit. Can anyone please guide me on what I should do? I am meeting the required hours and eligibility without mentioning the gap. Thank you in advance.
