Future Immigration to Canada Questions

Hello,

I currently have 59 points based on the skilled worker online self assessment

Education - 5 points
Language Ability - 18 points
Work Experience - 21 points
Age - 10 points
Arranged Employment - 0 Points
Adaptability - 5 points

I am looking at retraining to hopefully gain further points required to make it passed the 67 required. I was thinking of doing an apprenticeship in accountancy or possibly even a uni course. I would also need to gain experience in one of the 38 categories. What are your thoughts on the best way for me to go about being eligible? Also could anyone point out which of those on the list are usually there from previous years?

The list was only introduced in Nov 2008 and that was for the first time so we don't know what a new list would like.

Since you indicated 18 for language, I presume you know some French. Have you looked at CSQ (Quebec immigration)?

I know basic french managed to get an A at GCSE. I don't really feel confident enough in my ability though for it to be used to any extent. Nevertheless i shall take a look at your suggestion.

I would like to share a personal experience which happened to a friend of mine, he mentioned "Fair" knowledge of french in his application and claimed 2 points, he was called for an interview in Detroit and the IO started speaking to him in french, luckily for him, he answered back as he took the basic course for a month in Alliance France in chennai during his vacation break before coming back to the US. I am not trying to scare you, this is true, just be prepared for some basic testing is French speaking.

I would be more than happy to take a French test as i declared basic knowledge due to a lack of using French since leaving school else i may have felt a bit more confident at nudging towards intermediate. I have a question remembering the above can anyone think of a route in after reading this e-mail i received upon a job application
