yes you must show the amount of money that you declared when you submitted your initial application to cio. once youre in the airport already some officers will ask for your pof some dont but you must be prepared. as for me we declared 965k so ill be converting it to us dollars not exceeding 10k and the rest will be in bank draft.

Please go to the link below which shows:
Disclosure of funds
If you arrive in Canada with more than C$10,000, you must disclose this information to the CBSA officer. If you do not disclose this information, you could be fined or put in prison. These funds could be in the form of:

•cash
•securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or
•negotiable instruments in bearer form, such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders.

as you mentioned money is tight, you have to show at least the declared amount while applying.

if we take 9000 cash and 11000 draft or tc, do we still have to declare?

thanks all ,
I am in USA and all my money is in bank, so do we have to take money out and convert to Canadian dollars or we can just show our bank of america statement and use our debit and credit cards as and when required? it makes no sense to convert all money to CAD and back to american dollars.....it cost too much to just convert it....plz help anyone in my shoes???

In earlier posts with similar query, seniors suggested that, statement from Bank of America will work.
