Hi there,

I was filling in my initial details and came across the application details form in the GC key stage. Here it asks me how many family members and how much funds do I have for me and my family.

It is just me and my spouse, however I will only be applying and my spouse will not be included in this application.

1. Do I have to mention 13000 (for me only) or 15500 (for both) as it asks for me and family member, even though only I am applying and will eventually have 13000 only. what I mean to say is, will I be marked down because I have put 13000 for 2 people as they have asked. or do I have to mention 15500 but later state only I am applying so is reduced to 13000.

2. I do plan on sponsoring my spouse after getting my own pr, will this step affect in anyway or do I only have to present funds for 2 when I am processing my spouses application?

Mention funds for both.

Thanks, but is it okay then to show for one only as I am the only applicant?
No, Even if your spouse is non-accompanying, you will have to show funds for both. Even Medical and PCC will be required for spouse.

I have not included my spouse due to the non availability of a degree and IELTS so this would reduce my points. so do you think it would be better to apply for sponsorship for the spouse after I get my PR? is this a wise choice?

In my opinion nothing is wrong in sponsoring him later on but only be prepared for the long wait for that sponsorship to happen....what I have read is that it might take up to one whole year in that process...

Yes have read that too, thank you for the clear information.

Plan for 1 year but it could be a bit less or a bit longer. Anticipate that he will not be able to join you during this time but you can take short holidays to visit him. Max 3 weeks.

Sounds good, in this time can he travel to canada as well on visit? how long for max?

No he will probably not get a visa. He can try but the probability of success is low. Technically he could stay and then apply for inland sponsorship with a work permit that is why approval would be difficult.
