No, wire transfer is a method of electronic transfer between one's bank account in one's institution to another. You or your wife don't need to waste any energy running around if you use wire transfer

My bad: typo mistake

But on second thoughts, especially transferring funds from a currency restricted country to countries like Canada, entrusting a person to carrying cash is an alternative to wire transfer (although not so safe).
