Does anyone out there know whether or not this is actually neccessary? We've read a couple of places that we will have to do this before we attempt to bring our mattresses across the border when we move - but the immigration officer when my husband landed told him not to bother. Just wondering...

Our international moving company who came out to our house said nothing of doing so.

I landed with a uhaul truck. They didn't even open it. They just asked it there was anything else I was bringing in that was not on my list.

When my husband moved here from Canada 13 years ago we were shocked when the only question asked at the board (coming to USA mind you from CA) was if we had a car in the Uhaul. We said, no. They said, go ahead. We didn't even need a list of goods.

Fumigation is not required if you are importing the mattress as settlers effets under tariff code 9807.00.00.
