I am an American, accepted to Concordia University. I speak fluent French (lived in France for a year). Will I be able to obtain permanent residency in Quebec if I take all the courses in French after one year of study full time?

I don't know all of the Quebec programs but you can look through them on their immigration page at http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/index.html

Believe me I did. It is very confusing, no direct answer, or I can't comprehend it. Thank you for your response though.

Which stream at your aiming for?

Hi fricodam! You shouldn't have any problems getting permanent residency in Quebec. I went to Concordia as well and I got my CSQ after applying at the end of my first year here and my French is intermediate at best. By the way is your program 2 years or longer in length?

permanent residency, citizenship afterwards

Alright, but which stream for PR? Family Class (You get sponsored by an spouse, brother, etc.)? Skilled Worker (You do qualify by your own means, Studies, Experience, Langues etc)? And so on, take an assessment there and you'll find out what your odds are, though you shouldn't experience much of any troubles to get the CSQ.

Fairooz: My program is 4 years actually or 5. I am not sure about summer semesters. Since you got your CSQ were you eligible for Quebec tuition rates?

Nice! So you should be fine though if I were you I'd check when exactly you'd become eligible because as far as I know one can apply when they either enter their last year of studies or have completed half their credits, whichever comes first.

And sadly no, the CSQ didn't get me Quebec fees, you have to be a landed immigrant for that :(

Glad to be of help :) Good luck with your application and also, welcome to Montreal :)
