You over exaggerate the love Indo Canadians and Indian born Canadians have for these international students from Punjab. Many of them openly despise these kids and are tired of the huge influx and the reputational damage they have caused. In fact, you’re one of the few Indians actually supporting the mass influx of these kids. lol. Furthermore, Khalistani Sikhs are a minority of the Sikh population in Canada, albeit a very loud minority. I have Indo Sikh Canadians in my office who don’t give a shit about either India or Khalistan. The media seems to exaggerate the influence and popularity these guys have in Canada. The reality is that they are a very small and loud minority in Canada. For Canada, there’s absolutely no point in putting a blanket visa ban for all Indians since they haven’t even done that for Iranians and Canada has no diplomatic relations with Iran. Apart from the media, no one in Canada actually gives a crap about the diplomatic issue with India. If Indians stop coming over here as students, the colleges will just recruit them from other countries. Nothing what Trudeau does will save him and Jagmeet. He’s done for. He’s caused immense damage to Canada and almost everyone hates him over here. The housing market is going to crash soon and Canada will enter a recession. All the international students are going to get turfed soon. We’re going to have years of Conservative politics and depending on the rising anti immigrant sentiment, probably a few PPC seats as well.
Khalistanis bullied CSIS into making changes in to their national safety report back in 2016 or 2017. I'd say they are very influential.

>If Indians stop coming over here as students, the colleges will just recruit them from other countries.
We don't have other large population pools that can feed Canada (and that are also capable of bringing in money) - India was China's replacement for Canada. After India and China, there are no replacements.

All eyes on JT to show the proof now.

Please… During the Harper years, Indians made up about 11 to 20% of the overall student population in Canada. Canada was running perfectly fine back then. The only reason Indians are over represented in the college population is because private and public colleges in Canada have boosted their recruitment efforts and marketing to solely focus on India. They’ve picked up on the fact that Indians are desperate to leave India. Most of the Indians attending these colleges barely have money and have taken massive loans just to fund their studies. This is the sole reason that they’re desperate for minimum wage jobs in Canada. The idea that these kids are bringing money is nonsensical.

I won't go into arguments over whether they bring in money or not - as that only leads to discussion without data. But, I certainly don't know of any other country that can provide international fees paying students that scale. There isn't a replacement that I see.

Thing is, Gurudwara politics disproportionately decide voting patterns of Sikhs and they live together and vote in a block. This is why while being 2% of population they have 18 MPs. In a contrast, Hindus are numerically more than Sikhs but have just one 1 MP. And yes, Khalibanis have disproportionate control of Gurdwaras.

Also immigration is a BIG issue among Sikhs. They move in a group too, in a family. One should read or listen to Shekhar Gupta journalism on Sikh politics. Especially his videos on "Cut the clutter". He has lived through turmoil years of Punjab and is an expert on Sikh politics. Immigration in Sikh families is a famalial phenomenon. One brother goes to Canada, entire family funnels funds into his endevor. sometimes entire village does it. IELTS, study permit to plane tickets etc, everything. A lot is riding on this one person. They go to Canada and then they sponsor their family, they sponsor their siblings and sometimes "not so sibling".

You put a brake in that process, you will make Sikhs pissed off. Otherwise, Trudeau would have taken some action and would have been more assertive. After all Indians moves to Canada and not vice-versa! This was perfect opportunity for Trudeau to show that he is not a doormat! But he could not because Jug-Meat have him by the balls!

We need some Africa bulls in this thread lol
But yeah, no other country has the financial and human ability to send students here like India.

Anyone looking at what is happening in the US and Canadian bond markets? This is going to be painful especially for Canada.

LOL!
Punjab has a massive (consensual) human-trafficking industry. Do you believe Sikhs in Canada are not hand in glove in it? There is a significant part of that diaspora that is actively involved in it. Another part is indirectly supporting it by following the Gurudwara leaders. One member of a family in Punjab goes to Canada, he helps pay back loans taken by the family for his migration. This is followed by loan for another member. And on and on it goes till entire families or atleast young generation are not in Canada. Why do you think Punjab have to depend upon Bhaiyya (their term not mine) from UP for tilling the farms instead of their own labourers? Because their youth move to Canada.

You put a brake in it, what do you think Sikh will do? Love it? Do remember one thing about Punjabi, they are very good businessmen. No businessman like to take a hit on his business.

Chinese typically do not go for diploma mills like our Punjabis go for. They have moved up in the ladder. Infact, Chinese these days are more demanding on quality than natives here in Canada.

The Sikhs who came in the 80s eventually established businesses in Canada and are extremely wealthy. They are well respected members of the society. They have zero relations to the current crop of punjabi sikh international students coming from rural areas of Punjab, who are often seen as the “rednecks” of India. In fact, if you’ve noticed, for the 700 mostly Punjabi Sikh students who were going to be deported from Canada, it was Jaishankar, the Indian Foreign minister who requested the Canadian government, for them to not be deported. I have no idea where you’ve seen Indo Canadians embracing these people?

As for the voting block, Conservatives, NDP and the Liberals have Sikh members. It cannot be that they share the same beliefs as a block and then vote for different parties. Both Brampton and Surrey, which are heavily dominated by Sikhs, elected White mayors. Ultimately, people vote for their own interests. Therefore, I strongly doubt the notion that all Canadian Sikhs have shared political beliefs.

The total number of immigration per year in 80s never exceeded 150K, for most years it was 100K (https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/pub/11-630-x/11-630-x2016006-eng.pdf?st=UTBzCl3S). Sikhs and Indians in that era were a minority of that number. In 2000s alone this shot up to 200K+. Upshot, 80s sikhs are old and not numerous enough to matter. Its later ones that are now running the show.

What you are missing is the massive consensual human traffic racketeering that is running between Punjab and Canada. A significant number of sikhs here are very much involved in it, directly or indirectly. In all capacities. Some benefit from cheap labour, some from provding housing, some from direct money, some under capacity of a RCIC or a lawyer.

Watch Shekhar Gupta's videos on Punjab. He is among few who knows the state very deeply.

Haha!
https://thewire.in/rights/canada-punjabi-students-fake-admission-scam-protest-lovepreet

Look who was the bleeding heart for the lucky 700s.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has taken up this issue in Canada’s parliament, after which the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assured students that the government’s focus is on identifying the culprits, not penalising the victims.
Yes! Its our boy, the Jug-Meat!

Did you think the poor Chad-Shankar have any power over True-Blow? Now why do you think while in UK Suella Racist-Coconut-Whatever is ready to defend the worst atrocities done by British on her own kind and scuttle any LEGAL visa concession BUT our boy in Canada went and stood for those who came here illegally?

And you still believe Sikhs do not vote as block.

I guess probably Andhra Pradesh, followed by TN, Karnataka and other states right? I am assuming most work permits are for IT.
AP/Telangana go to their Mecca which is the US. Surprisingly, I am seeing less Telugu folks here in Canada. But there are sizable number from TN. KA folks are less both in US and Canada.
