I haven't been on this forum a long time but this is a trend that I only see here. On Reddit people seem to be much more eager to call Canada their home. I worked in Canada on an intra-company transfer permit and I do agree that it's not a perfect society. That being said, it's much better than the vast majority of countries out there and that's why I am trying my best to succeed in my PR application.
People forget the value of clean air, clean roads, good education system, and take these things for granted and only focus on the negatives. Not leaving Canada, incessantly hating on it, and discouraging others who want to immigrate there is just beyond my comprehension.
I'm with you buddy. Canada is not perfect, but I am loving it. My kids are having a blast here too. I am the happiest and settled I've ever been. The govt cares for the residents and they do their best, though they are slow to act in some instances. The govt-provided benefits for food, housing, health, education etc really helps to make life bearable. I know that this is highly province-dependent but the federal govt does it's best too.
Few minutes ago, I was sharing with a new immigrant what happened with my son's daycare last year:when we came in August 2021 (on study permits), I was paying $790/month for son's daycare (daycares are crazy expensive in most part of Canada). About 5 months later, the provincial govt decided to subsidize the daycare fees for all residents (whether permanent or temporary residents). The fees fell to $245/month. Not only that, the govt refunded the difference between the new fees and the old fees GOING BACK 6 MONTHS! I was so shocked.
Where I come from, govt just takes and takes, never once giving back. They don't even bother providing basic amenities
.
PS: Good luck with your PR application!
