I applied with my spouse and it took about a month and few days for the whole thing. I guess it also depends on how uncomplicated you make your application and the VO
Can you please post your timelines and more details about the application/your profile? Also, if you can explain how you made the application free of any possible complications - this may be useful for some of us here.

Hello

Here is my timeline.

AOR 27th oct
Medical passed 29th October
Sch A request for me and spouse
Sch A submitted 2nd november
BGcheck in process 5th December
RPRF and PPR 8th December
RPRF paid 9th December
COPR 17th December

I would like to say that read this forum religiously, even the old posts it has lots of knowledge.

You are the best person to complete your application but if you decide to hire a lawyer, always double check your forms

Ask as many questions as you can think of. I asked some silly ones as well. But have no doubts.

Double check all your documents before uploading . For compressing the documents i used smallpdf.com

Write a Polite and very detailed LOE. It's okay if your LOE is long but it has to be easy to understand for VO. I sent it to my relatives for proof reading cause their English is better than mine. Also, if, they could understand my LOE ( they were oblivious to my situations with regards to my application) I was sure VO would too.

I followed anujgupta84 for my POF.

I will try to answer any questions if I know the answer to them. Hope this helps. Wish all the members best.

@ADteam: Thanks for explaining in details, those timelines are really fast! I haven't put any LOE in my application (Which was actually filed by my lawyer - I don't think she has put any LOE), not sure if that's going to impact anything but hoping that it doesn't impact my application.

You don't have to put an LOE if your application does not need it. Most applicants use it to clarify grey areas or where they might have answered YES to a statutory question. Not using one is not likely to impact your application negatively with respect to speed of processing. I reckon his super fast application has more to do with his VO than his meticulously file application. Most applications processed outside ottawa are unusually fast and I reckon his was processed outside Ottawa.

I am stuck in ottawa :(

Hey Peeps... so I got the GCMS note today and it's really uneventful (on in other terms underwhelming).. I wish I had waited a week before ordering...
I submitted the order online on Nov 19th... CIC received the request, and generated the report on Nov 23rd (just two days before my BG check went into progress, Nov 25th)... The last and only note I have (pasted below) is dated Nov 9th... On Page 2, under Application Assignment there's a "due date" of Dec 13th 2015 (honestly i've seen so many fellow applicants pass their deadline by several weeks without any action, so I don't think the deadlines mean anything to us).

I wish they had received my request just 3 days later, because I would have probably been able to see how and why my BG went into progress. I'm theorizing that they had a note on Nov 24th or Nov 25th when my BG went into progress.

The only meaningful note that I have indicates that my education and police reports are OK. Unfortunately it doesn't mention my NOC code or work experience. I'll have to wait for my newly ordered GCMS notes which I expect to receive in late January. Hopefully there will be an explicit mention of whether I passed my eligibility, and whether my NOC code was accepted or not.

I had the same note that you got as the penultimate one. The day the background check turned to in-progress, I got another note which addresses:
1. FOSS Check Completed: No adverse Information
2. Experience: Minimum Requirements Satisfied
3. POF: Sufficient Settlement funds
4. No Criminal Concerns

And a comment that File is RFV.

I think if you ordered 3 days later, you would have gotten the extra note. But you can still call them up and ask about the status. Ask them to let you know if FOSS check is over and if your Experience has any issues. They might give the info.

Thanks much for your comment okbangaram... yeah i'm beating myself for not waiting 2-3 more days!! Was so close! And thanks for confirming my theory that we do get a new note on the day BG check turns to in progress...
Yeah you're right I won't lose anything by calling them, though i'm 80% sure they won't give me any info.. I've never heard of anyone calling before the 6 months mark (without DM) and got useful info..
What's their number? I live in the US, not Canada..
Also, what's a FOSS check?
Thanks again

There weren't any due dates for background, criminality or any other assessment.. (just says Not started)
The only due date i saw is the Dec 13th already mentioned. Obviously nothing happened so far since Dec 13th... Hopefully my next GCMS notes will indicate what exactly happened on Dec 13th, if anything (I theorize that due dates have to do with our applications moving into and outside of their pipelines, and possibly being transferred from one person/unit to the other)

You R10 happened before mine, so a possible explanation to you not having your BG started is that it's being reviewed by several senior officers to get approval. I'm really hoping they will approve and that you'll jump to DM pretty soon without going to BG in progress. You know there's also another possible explanation.. In my professional life i've worked a lot with CRM systems (including Siebel - the same CRM system that CIC uses to process our applications).. Sometimes imperfect things happen.. Sometimes people forget to assign things or submit things.. trust me i've seen it happen every now and then... so it's also possible that your BG actually started but that the person working on it forget to select "in process".. maybe!

Check the recent posts from the August Thread. We were successful in calling. There are tips there

Yeah your best bet of 'making sense' of anything is to actually get a new set of GCMS notes.. hopefully the next one will have more info.. Did you order GCMS notes again? if so, when?
