1. I will submit passports on Monday. Is there any chance that I can have them back in my hand by Thursday.
Ans: Very unlikely. Wait for at least a week.
2. Is it possible for the principle applicant and the dependents to complete the landing process separately at different times.
Ans: Yes, they can but principal applicant must make the landing before dependents.

Just spoke with a colleague working in my company's Toronto office about economy and job market stuff. He's ethnically Indian, born in Caribbean and living in Toronto since years!

He generally sounded quiet positive about job market conditions.

He said those in regulated professions will have to get local qualifications. For example, those holding Indian Chartered Accountant (CA) or UK (ACCA) will find that their qualifications don't hold much value there.

He had an ACCA, and he had that struggle to start with.

In general, what he meant is that those relaying on educational qualifications need to get local equivalent to get the job they deserve.

Those with non regulated skills such as IT, wouldn't find that qualification barrier. He said there are lots of jobs in Canada in IT. His wife, a recent immigrant found job quiet fast.

Annual leaves are two weeks minimum. But that can be negotiated with employer, if you do well in the interview and if they want to hire you then they'll be happy to negotiate. I know people who've negotiated 20 days a year.

Overall, there are lots of opportunities in Canada for the people with right skills!

I thought it'd be good to share this with people on this forum and to encourage them to feel confident about finding job soon after landing. Especially, lots of people have gotten or are about to get their visa at this stage!

I wish everyone all the very best and sorry for long and poorly written post but I'm busy in the office so didn't have time to write it carefully!

Well reported Jaxon, I second that!!+1 to you.

Hello All,

This might seem like a stupid question but still had to ask.
Why is getting a PER considered a good news .. I mean I understand that its a step forward and all ... but there is a fair chance of rejection isn't there ? So far I have seen people being very ecstatic as if their application is approved and they have the PR already.

I don't mean to be offensive to anyone just trying to understand the intensity of receiving a PER. Also cause I received mine yesterday i.e. 26/02 but obviously the letter mentions nothing decided yet and VO office will tale the final decision ....

Thanks in advance for any takers.

getting PER means that initially the visa officer at cic concludes that your file is ok to be proceeded....you have all the documents provided and nothing is left over.......so now they will award u PER....means that now your documents will be verified.

so think it as a green signal. for people who have provided genuine documents, which are not fake......for them PER means PR....cos the processing can take time but its a definite PR.

the rejection is only in those cases which seems fishy or whose documentation cannot be verified. now it can be employer verification, it can be security clearance, it can be bank statements......it can be anything.

receiving PER means almost there.......so that's why people consider it so important part of their processing. previous 10 years record shows 85% of people getting PER got PR in the end........those 15 % rejections were either incomplete documents, misrepresentation, fraud cases, unverifiable documents or sources, criminality checks, security risks, medical inadmissibility, VO not being satisfied with the client and calls for interview and then client fails to satisfy his queries, etc.

so I hope now u got the point why people celebrate per and why they consider it almost equal to PR.
