I opened this account last week. I received an account number for Scotia Bank in about 5 working days. We can transfer upto $50,000 to this account before we reach Canada. The money must be transferred from your own account. It can not be transferred from someone else's account in India. You will also need a CA certificate saying the this money is tax paid.

Can you use a bank statement related to that account as proof of funds at the POE?

Guys,

Let me know if i am missing anything, or if my memory is right. I read these points somewhere in this forum.

Once we get a second line update, it means that
1. A Visa officer is assigned to the file
2 A completion date is given ( i.e - Approx by when a decision can be made if things are favorable)
3. Background checks may be initiated for the file if necessary

Let me know if there is anything else as well.

How did you get the account number from Scotia Bank, is it via email? We've applied 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive anything from Scotia Bank (except the reference number when we registered online). We emailed startright@scotiabank.com last week and until now, have yet to receive a reply from them. sigh.

Thanks for the info. I did not get the meaning of CA certificate. The one that is recognized in india is IT department annual return form and bank statement. Wondering how a CA would verify source of or income and issue a certificate as that is not a recognized authority to justify earned money. Can you please guide little bit more on this, as you may be right.
