The main reason I don't like UK winter is that UK winters tend to be very dark and gloomy. Very little sunshine. Very short days i.e it starts getting dark around 3.30 PM in December and we get very low dark clouds pretty much every day with windy and drizzly weather. Even days feel like nights.
Similar situation in Canada as well.

It does get cold, but it hasn't snowed much for last 3 years. So far I have not had any problem with the cold temperature. I did not hate it even when it was -8 C last winter. But I did hate the fact that I did not see sunshine for almost 2-3 months! Get ready to get for -30C to -40C, with lots of snow and few snow storms.

Plus I feel people in the UK don't tend to embrace the winter. There is not much to do during winters apart from drinking down the local pub.
Same story in Canada though you an go for skiing, etc.

Hopefully, Canadian winters will be more sunnier and people will embrace the winter and live thru it instead of trying to just escape the country!
Even if its sunnier, temperature is going to be -20C to -30C (some times with wind chill it will be around -30 to -40) You wont even fell sun.

I think Vancouver / BC doesn't have as cold winters as in other parts of Canada.

I do hear people using words like "harsh" and "brutal" to describe Canadian winters. Does it really get brutal in say for example Toronto? This of course make me feel a bit scared.
What ever I mentioned above is in Toronto. More North you go more worse.
This certainly sounds scary!

Do people go to work during this kind of harsh weather? -20 C or work from home or just skip the work?

And more importantly, does the heating systems work at these low temperatures?

Please read section 8 and 13 of IMM_5612 (document checklist) carefully especially the bottom couple of lines of section 13.

Regarding current / expired visas for selecting country of VO, I anyways wasn't sure. I had mentioned that. Also I got the question wrong. Had mentioned it. Future_canadian has given the correct answer.

But regarding Degrees and transcripts, Point no 13 clearly says

Proof of you foreign educational credential CAN INCLUDE copies of your :
*Secondary or post secondary education documents (certificates diplomas and degrees) and
*Trancripts for successfully completed Secondary or post secondary education IF AVAILABLE

Note words in CAPITAL. Hence degrees are necessary, but transcripts aren't.

Its clear bro, all they are saying is, you can send docs for your new application but they will start their part of processing in their own time. :) go ahead and share the new company letters, joining, etc what all you have till date

Hi All,

I have updated the VO regarding the job change (as it was mentioned in email from CIO to inform about any change) via email. The VO replied that currently my application is in process or waiting to be reviewed by an immigration officer and no action is required by me at this time. Further the office also mention that If i want to submit additional documents than I can send it via post.

What does it mean? quite confusing thou..

My friend, till you get stamped, no guarantee. PER does not guarantee cleared background verification. Actually it starts after getting PER once ur file gets transferred to local visa office. If you file goes into verifiication and they find something fishy, there is rejection, if it goes into verification and find nothing fishy, moved to next step then.

All verifications are done between PER and MR. Hope this helps
Very helpful, thank you! I read some posts where applicants have mentioned that their applications were returned due to lack of evidence that they performed the duties set by the required NOC. Is that part of the pre-PER process or the verification undertaken by the local VO?

+1 in advance for your reply!

You know why my life is so wonderful and why I have no reason to go to Canada or anywhere else? Here it is:

Every morning, when I open my e-mail inbox, I find:

I have receive an email from 10 job companies offering the best jobs to me, as soon as I apply.

Email from someone telling me I have won £10,000,000 and some other guy offering to transfer $500,000 in to my account for unknown reasons.

Email from at least 5 banks offering me easy loans.

Email from Dr. Expert claiming that he will cure my hair fall & greying for cheap.

5 matrimonial sites have most suited matches for me.

3 pharmacies offering me their break thru anti-aging medicine for free

3 universities are giving me degrees in random subjects.

In addition, I get about 100 mails from hot girls named Janice, Angelina, Fatima & Priya who are feeling lonely and want to meet me.

What else can one ask for in my life...? :p 8) ;D :D

:) If any girls named Janice, Angelina, Fatima & Priya are on this forum, they will take offense. :)

And you will once again get into trouble... :p :p

I was really just pulling your chain. In Vancouver, it doesn't go below 0 C very much but it rains a lot in winter. In Toronto, it gets colder and snows, but there are more sunny winter days mixed in.

You can always check the climate info:

Funny part is you wont fell cold when its snowing(no wind). You will fell cold in clear sky after snow fall stops. Many precautions has to be taken during winter in Canada.

And more importantly, does the heating systems work at these low temperatures?
Heaters as full on in every public transit to every rental apartments but not to worry every body gets use to it.
