Hi All,
Good to see things are going well on this forum. Wanted to alert you on a bogus call I received.

I received a call from 8882422100 number today. The person said he was from CIC department and wanted to verify my information. He already had my name, email ID, phone number and asked if I was already in Canada or planning to move there soon. He did not know that my PR has already been processed and inquired if I received any recent communication from CIC. I was suspicious and asked him to confirm my UCI number to assure me if he was really from CIC at which he disconnected the call.

I googled this number and found it to be a bogus call. These people claim to be from CIC and ask to deposit some fees in the name of CIC. Beware of such calls or emails.

EDIT: My bad. Looks like several people have reported this fraudulent activity. I am not sure how a caller ID can be faked, but obviously gs123's warning is real. Thank you and sorry.

In fact I got a reply from Sydney processing office that my file has been transferred to CPC-Ottawa and they can't provide me with more information, this is it......
But still 75 days from PER is a loooooong time with no further communications...

I mean transfer letter from CPC-Ottawa.

Are you just playing or are you really unaware that 1-888-242‑2100 is the genuine call center number of CIC?

If call is from 1-888-242-2100 mostly it is fraud because when CIC calls "private no" is displayed on screen.

1- Online application reference number : A number that is generated by system automatically after submitting application online.
2- Application number It is number which usually starts from E000XXXXXX

Dear Ashif, Century and other senior forum members, out of your experience, how many cases you guys have seen where the ECAS Status is "In Process", and instead of PER the person receives NER. (after the DD is charged)

It is very rare. Very few people has reported it.

There is no Backlog at CPC-Ottawa. You will hear from them soon.

I would suggest don't send them any query for now. Just apply go GCMS notes under Privacy act.
