Looking at the count of 157 my take is this can't be for more than 4 to 6 work days of May 2014.

It doesn't say anywhere whether the data is for 1st day of May or 3 or 5 or 10 or 30 days since the process began on May 1st.
This year CIC has been a little smarter in not providing a date for which the data is (at least as of now, may be they will start doing that going forward). Even when the date is provided that date does not mean all applications that have come their office "until that date" since it is NOT real-time in that sense. Based on last year's experience many of us can tell you that. It usually has a lag of 4 to 10 weeks in terms of actual applications received at Syndey, NS and stamped by their mail room guys versus what's shown on CIC's website.

Think of it this way, every day 100s of application arrive at Sydney, NS from around the world. Although the stamping of mail room for receipt of applications is most likely done real-time everything else right from opening that package and checking details in the package will have a lag, as probably there will always be some inventory in their pipeline that needs to be thoroughly checked and evaluated from earlier (detailed checking takes time). With limited staff at their office and unlimited number of applications the lag might infact only increase over time. Makes sense?

Plus what I hear experienced folks on this forum say that status is more likely the status of PER issued, though I am not sure of that correlation. But if that were true then what CIC shows as number of applications received at their end is actually the number of applications that they have checked and found PER eligible, which can't be real-time at all (and will have a 4 to 10 weeks lag).

It means 8 applicants had got PER . I think CIC only updates the number of PER issued !!

Technically speaking, it is neither application received nor PER. It is number of complete applications. The heading is "Number of complete applications counted towards the 1,000 sub-cap".

I am little confused about your situation. 4 different positions but the same NOC and the same organization. There is no problem with this , but you need to have 1 year of continuos full time work experience in one of the 50 eligible occupations.

Depends on CIO officials how they determine the work experience, whether on aggregate basis or by each position.

Wait for seniors to comment about how you should fill your 12 B section of the Economic Form.

I don't know specifically for Canada. But I do know for US, not sure that helps though but might give an idea. If a spouse gets a US student visa (US F1 visa) you would get a (US F2 visa) which is 'a dependent of US student visa holder.' You cannot work in US with this F2 visa. You might need to check with some one who knows this correlation for Canada. Apology if I have added confusion rather than providing the answer you needed.

But if you are applying under FSW then you would be able to work in Canada. I guess your question is if you were to not apply under FSW, would you still be able to work basis your wife's Canada student visa; am I correct?

My guess is....it might be unlikely to be able to do paid work if you are spouse of a student visa holder. But I do not know the Canadian law on this aspect so won't discourage you from finding this out here. I am sure there are some Canadian students / ex-students in here who might know the answer to this question. Guys, please help Manish. Thanks!

But, the problem is I do not get any salary slip on hand

Salaries are transferred to the Bank directly.

Will it be a problem?

But why are you telling this? The official website said it is allowed. Is it like that it is in the policy but they don't allow?

have a valid study permit and be a full-time student at:

a public post-secondary institution, such as a college or university or collège d’enseignement général et professionnel (CEGEP) in Quebec;
a private post-secondary institution that operates under the same rules and regulations as a public institution, and receives at least 50 percent of its financing for its overall operations from government grants (currently, only private college-level educational institutions in Quebec qualify); or
a Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees; or
have a valid work permit under the post-graduation work permit program.
Your open work permit will only be valid for the same period of time as your spouse or common-law partner’s work or study permit.
