Hi Gsw,

I agree that these immigration professionals are to guide us and trust me that is what most of them do - they tell people what is needed and how to get the same. They help around with creative ideas basis their multiple years of experience, which otherwise is not easy for a newbie to know. I am sure though not every employee at these firms is equally creative / intelligent and some might be less forthcoming or knowledgeable on subjects (plus sometimes they just know things basis past experience and aren't smart to acknowledge that CIC rules have been slightly modified on a topic) so they sometime give misleading information it seems. In trying to defend some of the good guys, I never mean to say they are perfect. They too come with their shortcomings, I am sure. But I also take the feedback of a few people who have all negatives to say about them, with a grain of salt, as it is not always a complete black or white - it is most likely a shade of gray.

But there are many people who hire these guys for expert knowledge, even after knowing mostly everything upfront (even though that seems very contradictory), so that there is complete peace of mind basis the review of experts on their file. On the other extreme, there are also folks that hardly know much (or are new to the process) but still don't hire a professional. And of course between these two extreme lies most of the cases.

I am not trying to dismiss your line of thought, as that is just one of the many valid ones. On such general topics, there is no right or wrong approach. Whatever works for one is fine, is how I look at this. Cheers!

Even I totally respect your view and I guess normally people don't blog to say good experiences in day to day life (for example restaurant / travel agency / consultancy firm ) and if on some bad day they get Lill pinch of extra salt in biryani or delay in service , they gonna blog every possible thing to destroy the name of that joint . ( similar example for other industries can be drawn) so I assume there will be list of satisfied clients even for worst firm.

The nutshell is " you are responsible for yourself" and I am sure nobody hires consultant to scold them or shame them later for their mistakes ( at the max they gonna refund your money , but just imagine what all you will be losing )

Oscar do think about opening consultancy firm in canada with branches in India

My friend, you are wrong here. Primary NOC [for which you have applied for] should have minimum of 1 year of experience in past 10 years, if you have that, you are good to apply.

You can claim rest of the points by showing other jobs that you have done, and that should be listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B. So if you have applied for 2174 and have an experience of 1 year and worked 5 years in 2173, you'll be awarded 6 years points instead of 1.

2174 [or any other primary NOC] is the basic criteria to qualify, but CIC is not that harsh and will not ruthlessly reject the rest of the experience you had.

I have almost 2.5 years of experience in 2174, and almost same in 2175 cum 2174 [web development], in my GCMS, I have been awarded for all the experience I have. Even Visa Officer had no issue that I have been working as web programmer for past 2 years.

can you have a look at following

Citizenship and Immigration Canada will only consider federal skilled worker (FSW) applications from people who have:

at least one year of continuous and paid (full-time or an equal amount in part-time) work experience in a single occupation,
within the last 10 years,
at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), and who are:
in one of the 50 eligible occupations, and whose application is received under the occupation's sub-cap and overall FSW cap, or
with a valid offer of arranged employment, or
who are applying under the PhD stream (see below) until the PhD cap of 500 applications is reached.
All applicants must also:

meet the minimum language threshold (and submit approved language test results), and
submit a Canadian educational credential or foreign credential and an assessment of their foreign education from an approved agency, and
meet all requirements of the FSW Program.

So for example I sent my application on 19th of july 2014 for NOC 2174 keeping this in mind when can I expect my file to be returned if in case the cap limit is full and will the information of application be saved in their database ...

Appreciate your enthusiasm. But if you look closely at what you yourself have copy pasted from CIC website, you will realise that this is merely the criteria to qualify . So anyone having an experience of at least 1 year in one of the 50 NOCs will qualify as per this criterion.

However when it comes to points you are awarded points for your entire work ex. not just the 50 NOCs. Hope this clarifies. You are free to ask queries in case of any confusion.

I forwarded my application package on 05/09/2014 but yet to be received by CIC. Will enter the details once I get confirmation from courier.

Meanwhile, I have a question. I lived in Dubai from 05/2012 to 06/2012 for around 45 days in Visit Visa, then exited and again entered on training visa and lived for 5 months 29 days (Strickly less than 6 months) from 06/2012 to 12/2012. My visa office is London, do you think I will have to submit PCC from Dubai ?

Getting a PCC from dubai will take almost 2 months and there is fingerprint submission requirement as well.

Anyone who have experience with PCC from Dubai, please share your experience.

It will be still in fifo basis. CIO reported cap on 20th Dec for NOC X, someone's file received on 21st Dec for NOC X. Still it will be open on normal FIFO basis and then will be returned.
