Also I haven't notarized any of the photocopies or documents. ... but my wife's birth certificate was In Arabic so I got it translated from an authorized translator but did not get it notarized I did the same for our marriage certificate which was in Arabic as well... both documents have the translator 's stamp and the marriage certificate was also attested at the ministry of foreign affairs here in muscat...

That is something new: translated documents works without notarization.

+1. Good information.

For my bank statement the funds were only shown in Omani riyal no conversation was done... only when I was filling the form where they have asked us to mention assets I'v written the aamount in CAD. .

Can anyone inform me on how to get my fingerprints done in Saudi Arabia for a PCC from the US? I currently reside in dammam and are there any fingerprinting agencies in and around dammam?

Information while waiting....

Here is the URL..

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=022&t=4

As per this there are below mentioned High Level stages...

To process permanent resident applications, CIC will:
•review your application to make sure it’s complete-------------------- CC/DD Charged/Encashed
•determine if you are eligible to apply to become a permanent resident of Canada ---------PER email received
•tell you when your application has been put into processing----------------AOR from VO
•send you instructions on how to complete a medical exam, if you did not get your medical before sending in your application -------- MR From VO
•perform a security screening, to make sure all applicants do not pose a risk to the safety and security of Canadians---------PCC (included with MR)
•determine if you need to attend an interview, and-----------------Not a mandatory step very few get interviewed.
•inform you of the decision made on your application----------------Get PR stamped on Passport

Hope this week we see most of the applicants at second stage and some on third stage....

Good question brother! In the forum I was surprised to learn that a female had got that done (i.e. her bank balance certificate showing total amount as CAD equivalent), but I would like to think it is not a normal practice and most bankers might refuse that. :)
Yes am the one u r talking about... sss they refused at the first stand and after requesting and explaning the facts they provided it to me... at the end of the day.. its my own money and i just requested to give the equivalent rate and it was clearly mentioned the bank will not bear any responsibilities if the exchange rate will vary in the future that might affect...

No, not for General Saving account. But, they do supply for NRI accounts.

when we thought of using a consultant we got some info thru him he told us we need to notarize many documents including photocopies n he said it will cost a lot... I'm a regular visitor of the form so I tho I would not use the consultant n thought most of my documents were in English so I decided not to notarize any document n send only the translated copies..it's really very expensive n difficult to get notarization here

Which bank it was. Because I have tried with Axis, StanChart, PNB and SBI; they all refused.

I got the Bank Certificate saying I have Rs. XXXXXX amout in my FD and saving which is equivalent to CAD XXXXX with exchange rate of XX.xx as on date xx.xx.xx.

And I guess any bank can provide this..

WOW! I have to say, you must possess very very excellent persuasive skill. ;D ;D

I'm just thinking, how do they do it!! Copying in excel sheet, multiplying each days' transaction with exchange rate. Or they got the system - just change the currency and everything changes.

What did they refuse for?? Canadian equivalent amount... If yes then you can do one thing ..

Get the Bank Certificate in INR... and go to xe.com or any currency converter website and take printout with date and attach with bank certificate.. I have got to know that consultant use to do this..
