Please write your question clearly.

Do you need to submit POF when applying or Do you need POF while landing?

In first case you can show bank amount in INR. But in second case, you have to take money or draft etc, with you to Canada.

You can claim/inform then any amount which you have planned to carry to Canada in future when your first landing.

Hi All,

I am a 5th Sep 2014 applicant and still waiting for MR since 78 Days. I have recently got my new passport issued. Should i inform LVO about it or should i wait till i get medical request, and later on inform the VO about it along with the Biopage of new passport?

My PCC Time line was 05th March. I had to get 3 PCCs, but unfortunately 1 PCC got delayed and received today Only. Already submitted Medical, RPRF, & Other PCCs on 5th March. Also, Kept one affidavit from Inda regarding the 3rd PCC. What I have to do with the PCC which i received today? Have to Send directly to NDVO or get the Lawyers Covering Letter & Send along with that? Pls advice

No, I don't think so. Because your's would be a domestic savings account, hence though you have the funds they are not readily available.

A lot depends on how the immigration officer will perceive it. However best not to take chances.

Check with SBI if you can have a Currency account in CAD.
Such an account allows you to receive and move money in CAD.

Best would be to carry a combination of CAD Cash/Traveller's cheque /Cad bank account statement.

In one you your earlier post you mentioned can't open CAD account till you land why?
Check out the Start right program of Nova Scotia. Also HSBC has something similar for new immigrants, not sure of the name though.

Hi Guys, I have a query on same topic - These days we have international banking available and we can withdraw CAD from India's debit card too.. then why is it necessary to open an open Canadian bank account before landing? Is there any other options available?

Yes! you need to inform all agencies of that with a soft copy of your new passport. so that they can update their records. don't delay this one ^_^

Send it directly to VO. With a self written covering letter

You are right in what you say. You can draw balance with an applicable conversion and transaction fee (3%-3.5%). But that works out more expensive for one.
Also there is no laid procedure around POF to carry that I came across but my thought is that's it's better safe than sorry.

A lot depends of the perception the immigration officer builds at the port of entry.

If I were the officer, I would ask myself, why is the new immigrant not moving his funds to a CAD account? Is he serious of being here or just want a PR card.
