I used a fixed deposit that I had fixed since april 2013 with some savings then, I guess the foreign exchange rate issue changed all.
I still have the fixed deposit and larger savings now, do I still send both

PER is usually the first communication you will receive in the process and it comes from CIO. The email name you see in your mail box is Centralized-Intake-Office and the subject line bears Application for Permanent Residence in Canada.

All subsequent communication (AOR/MR/PPR/etc) will come from the visa office (Accra in our case) and the email name is ACCRAIMMIGRATION @ international.gc.ca. Even when you do a Case Specific Enquiry (CSE), the auto response and eventual reply comes from the same email address/name.

Hi, as most have already said, please send both statements. You can scan the statements and attach in your reply to the POF update mail from AVO and then send the hard copies by courier. All the best

Good people, I got an update from Accra at noon today. An extract below.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following:

Proof of funds: you must have in the form of transferable and available funds, unencumbered by debts or other obligations. Send updated bank statements, fixed deposit certificates, etc. If you have made large deposits into your accounts or fixed term investments, you must provide evidence of where the funds originated.

Just in case some of us are not aware, there has been an increase (from the time we applied and now - not very significant though) in the Amount of Funds Required - open the link above. So it is not an issue of fluctuating rates only.

I hope Fixed Deposit Certificate and 2-months statement is enough for RK (Immigration Officer). ;D
