Hi Bonblu,

1. I didn't attach pictures but I can get and send pictures along when responding. I think the issue they have is the fact that my spouse has "married" on his Facebook status (maybe they expect him to have common law relationship).

2. The first passport I got was with my husband's name hence there was no requirement to submit evidence of new name.

3.Yes, I did a newspaper publication and included it in my application for the Canada immigration.

Thank you.
In my opinion, please do the following..
1.send engagement pictures (not photocopy) as it will be returned to you anyway after the whole process
2.. get a photocopy of the publication from the newspaper as evidence of requirement by Nigerian immigration for your passport to be processed in your husbands name..
3..resend a copy of your statutory declaration of common law union ( please get it done if you didn't do that with your initial application) as it could be a reason for the various questions.
4..Go to a Notary Public and declare that all information and documents above is genuine as attached with the the letter..
send all to AVO asap and PLEASE DO NOT BACK DATE ANY DOCUMENT with registry oh.( to avoid been banned due to misrepresentation).bcos they may have done some verification with the relelvant ministry before contacting you..

Wish you all the best!

God bless u bro. U hv just mentioned what I wanted to type. Sis, do not backdate anything. Also get your hubby to write for himself and attach with other docs that he is married to you n u only. Since he has paid your bride price. Support it with pictures over the years, if possible facebook posts to you in the past where he showered you with endearments. Dont worry, with raw documents as evidence, they will believe its not a hoax marriage. But pls dont 'cook' anything up. They are trained psychologists n know the truth instantly.

Hello House,

I got a mail from AVO today with some queries, though I was terrified but I have consoled myself. I noted on my application that i am in a common law relationship because my I am not married under the law (church or registry marriage) but only married under native law(engagement) and I have children with my husband and also use the family name.

AVO has written to me stating that since I am in a common law relationship, how come I am using my husband family name and that I should provide document which I used in getting a passport with the name. My passport was gotten with my husband family name hence I was not asked to submit any evidence of name at the passport office when I applied for passport.

Secondly, they noted that my husband status on social media indicates that he is married, ( I have married on my Facebook status too) and so they asked that since I am in a common law relationship with him, they assume he is married to another person.

They asked me to respond within 30days. I really need advise with regard to evidence of using my husband name to obtain passport.

Thank you.

Hi sis, I remember also in the past that husbands have to write a consent letter to immigration before they issue thier wives an international passport? Did this apply to you then? If so, do you hv a copy of that letter? That letter may be of help too?

Congratulations Kayb, it will end in praise.

Just got a mail from AVO this morning in response to a mail I sent to them 10 days ago to enquire if I could proceed to send PCC and pay RPRF since MR came without those other requests.

Response was: "You may send the Right of Permanent Residence Fees and Police clearance now if you wish to do so".

Appears as if I'm the one determining the pace now o. lol

I need PPR asap. ;)
