I will appreciate if others can offer a piece of advice here. We can also ask our people who have travelled out of the country with their children especially to Canada. We need to ask them what transpired if they were asked to present their children's birth certificates (issued by NPC).
If the NPC officer refers to INFANT. You may not laminate your child's birth certificate yet. However, the definition of INFANT according to dictionary is A child in the earliest period of life, especially before he or she can walk. An infant is defined to be from 9 days old to under 24 months old. Infant: 0-9 or 12 months.
So with all these definitions about INFANT, I don't think you should have problems with your older children who's birth certificates have been laminated already.
Other forumites can add their voice.
All the best.

Hello Precious people,

I went to NPC to get my kid's BC today and after issuance, the officer advised that I should not laminate the BC if I intend to travel with the kids as an infant. He explain that if i do, immigration will not allow me travel with the child. I was surprised as I am hearing this for the first time and I have laminated the BCs of my older kids already.

What you take on this.

Congrats all that have received update from AVO/CIC.

Dear All Forumites,
I have a concern about a colleague of mine and would appreciate advice from the entire house.

He submitted for FSW2014 under NOC1112 (Financial and Investment Analysts). His application was received at CIC on 22nd-May-2014 and up till now, he has not received a single word from CIC. He actually used one of the foremost Canadian Agents. He has been following up with his agent and they kept saying that they have not received any PER email from CIC. This is seriously worrisome.
Is anyone that applied under NOC1112 received PER from CIC?
Please help my friend with useful advice.

I wonder what business Immigration has with birth certificate if you want to travel? Is it not the same Immigration who issued the child an International passport after demanding a copy of the NPC birth certificate? Is the NPC officer saying that the child's birth certificate will be demanded for at the airport?

By the way, what does lamination do to a paper-based document anyway, apart from giving it some protection from the elements??

Thats my view also and already stated same yesterday.
Birth certificate is not a travelling document and if required, even a soft copy will suffice.
Most time, immigration officers only check adult passport because your visa will show the number of applicants and other information regarding children too.
No worries
