Any news update fellow applicants? Please share any news that's related to FSW 2007 cases.

Is the requesting of documents format changing? I was requested to make submissions of my Passports,Medicals and RPRF all at once!!.This has been the case with the new rules.I hope it's one way of making our old cases move fast!

I am calling on all the 2007 applicants to share news update with all of us.This way, we can release some of the waiting "stress" that has been slowly building up.To all applicants..Good Luck!

Take a look at this:

Political background

* During 2006 and 2007, the waiting times for skilled worker visas without pre-arranged employment had grown to 5 - 8 years (depending on the visa posts to which applications had been submitted).
* The Canadian government addressed this unwieldy situation by passing new legislation on June 18th, 2008.
* The gist of the legislation is that much greater emphasis will be placed on the applicant's occupation and how much demand there is for people in that occupation.
* Applicants who do not have pre-arranged employment but who are in high demand occupations will have their applications processed more quickly than before -- 6-12 months is the anticipated processing time.
* On the other hand, applications from people who do not have pre-arranged employment and who are in low demand occupations will be rejected out of hand.
o So, even if you hypothetically have enough points for education, age, fluency in one or both of Canada's official languages, etc., if you are in an occupation for which there is little demand in Canada and if you don't have pre-arranged employment, those facts alone will override everything else, and your skilled worker application will be rejected.
* Another important element of the new system is that the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration will set annual quotas for each high-demand occupation.
o As a result, many applicants who belong to occupations in high demand may not make the cut for the year in which they apply, especially if they apply late in the year.
o In such cases, applications from people who are in high demand occupations may be retained until the following year or years, while other applications will be returned almost immediately.

Thanks Bobby,... but I believed the thread-starter wanted to ask about what happened to the applicants who applied before the 38-List kicked-in, which should have been way back in 2007 and early-2008,.... and have been waiting ever since,.. these people have not been rejected, nor have they been asked to submit their documents. When checking in eCas, it will mention : Under process. So how long more do these people need to wait ?

Hi All,

In one word - to answer your query - NOTHING has happened. :(

We applied under old rules in Jan 2007, heard nothing. We have subsequently put in a second application under the new rules as our occupation seems to be on the list.

Hi,
Which visa office did you apply to? If it is London, note that they have requested documents update from all applicants up till the end of August 2007.

First of all, my apologies, for the input above which had nothing to do with the thread but was just for information purposes.
Back to the question, I have already given my opinion on this matter on 2 different threads on this forum.

In fact, we now have 3 different threads talking about 2007 Applicants.

Thanks Bobby,... hey,.. sorry if I sounded kinda offensive earlier, did not mean it,... but is this phenomenon happening in ALL the CHC's around the world, ie the 2007 applicants are being side-stepped ? But that wouldn't be fair, right ? Old rules are old rules and new rules are new rules, should be the proper thing to do,....

Bobby and guys,... look at the site below. I have always been referring to the information here :-

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp

There is a row for London which says, right at the end, 42 months for 80% of all cases to be finalized. I'm wondering if this still hold true, but as we know, CHC is very updated in their web infos, right ?

I guess we are still in the game (old rules- applicants). It's not until a declaration is made to the effect that no more old rules applicants are to be processed. We should therefore NOT loose patience. I hope this year, most of our cases can get handled.

By the way, when an applicant is asked to submit passports/Medical/RPRF under the old rules, the Generic letter states..this is part of application process...This statement sends a different signal, in the sense that, such a request is not neccessarily a PPR.Under what circumstances do the CIC request for Passports/RPRF/Medicals? Is it after determining that an applicant, has achieved the qualifying points and SOME background checks carried out?

YES, I would say so, otherwise, they will not ask you to pay the RPRF. After this, if an applicant still gets rejected, then it could be because of some new development that came about after the "qualifying points and background check steps", eg a court case came about concerning the applicant,....

The declaration given by the miniter was : ALL old rules applicants will be processed under the old rules. So, I can safely say we can continue waiting,....

With the declaration,we can just hope it stands as that, and that our applications get to be viewed and decided- hopefully sooner.Immigration decision is actually a big time project. It needs a lot resources both financially, information and patience!
