Hey,

I'm looking for a bit of advice or a recommendation from anyone in a similar position to me or someone who knows the Canadian Visa system well, moderators please relocate this thread if this is not an appropriate post.

I'm a 25 year old male looking to give living in Canada a real shot. I want to be able to move to Calgary or Vancouver and want to work without being tied to a specific company. I was initially going to use the working holiday visa (international experience Canada), but it looks like for the UK all of the available spots for these have been taken and now I'm unsure what to do. All the over Visas wording are very confusing and my work doesn't fall neatly into a listed category.

I work as an IT professional (Project Management / IT Architecture) for a large global company.

Can anyone recommend what Visas or entry options I should best consider?

Key Personal Info:
  • 25 years old
  • Educated to bachelor degree level (3 years) in a good subject from a good UK university
  • No criminal record / arrests / charges
  • Good floating capital (have over £20k in the bank)
  • Native English speaker, basic working French (speaking/writing/reading)

Thanks :-)

The IEC is your only realistic option for a temporary work permit. It's correct that there are no remaining spots for this year. This program is always over subscribed.

Otherwise you should look into immigrating to Canada. The process for this is the same regardless of where you are from. Suggest you start by researching the Express Entry program. Right now you must have 440+ points to be selected out of the pool over other applicants.
