Hi all,
Ive been her in Canada for 4 years, and finally got my PR in August of this year (2016). Just checking on the timeframe to be able to apply for Citizenship.
Besides the other criteria i found on the CIC website, it would appear to be a four year wait (1430 days happily living and working here) and then a 12 month application processing/wait time. Is this correct?
TIA ;D

You are correct. As of now you qualify for citizenship in 2020 at the earliest. However you can qualify for citizenship earlier when bill C-6 passes and 3/5 implemented.

1460 days in Canada, to be exact. You have to account for any time spend outside the country.

Everything points out to Bill C-6 passing sometime next year. It will reduce the time spent in Canada to 1095 days.

According to the spreadsheet filled by some people in this forum, processing times are reducing - though they still mention 12 months on the CIC website.

There are two - that I know of:

This one is open to modification, but contains only a few months: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jSGX4QDMkXG_ROU0sbIFCMg_eL-gv-YZGVctgxojLYI

This one contains more months, but only authorized people can modify - though those people seem to get the info from the previous one: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BZma84gwofEV-GeYx13fiyxZORk8NqRjaTn-VMKtvqA

I also saw one time another spreadsheet with several cases from 2012 to mid-2016, but I can't find the link now.

I've compiled the information from the second spreadsheet about two months ago, when I first applied, and this is what I got:

Please bear in mind that this graph comes from a spreadsheet with uneven cases per month, and we have no way to know if the information in there is correct, as people used to update themselves before the creator locked modifications. There's absolutely no statistical value. I basically created the graph to give myself hope that things are moving faster - which seems to be the case.

At least for my particular case, the trend stands. I'll be doing the test next Monday, January 16th, exactly two months after my application was received by CIC - and I had to produce fingerprints in the middle.

If Bill C6 gets approved:
  • the residency requirements is 3 years = 1095 days.
  • In that you can show 50% of time from your Pre-PR period (as you had been here for 4 years)
  • You would be eligible to apply for citizenship Aug 2016 + 1.5 years (assuming you dont leave the country)
  • On a quick math, you would be eligible to apply on Feb 2018

If Bill C6 does NOT get approved:
  • the residency requirements is 4 years.
  • You would be eligible to apply for citizenship at Aug 2016 + 4 years
  • On a quick math, you would be eligible to apply on Aug 2020 + the days you are away from canada

No, the pre-PR credit is only for up to a year, whether he has stayed in Canada 4 years or 2 years, he would only get 1 year

Yep, that is the best attitude. Let it happen when it can happen, otherwise just enjoy life until then!
