Hey guys just wondering if ecas has a glitch or not as accurate. My application had been in process for a while. Last week we got the medical request and was already updated in cic as medical passed. For some reason on ecas it changed from in progress to application received. Cic reflects that things are in progress like before. Why would ecas go backwards. Especially after medical was Recieved and approved. Please advise.

I believe PA reside outside of Canada and applied as an "Outland Application". Once the file is reached at CPC-Sydney, they check for the file completeness and send AOR along with BIL and Medical (most of the times). Based on PA residency, then it will be transferred to local VO. Once local VO receives the file ECAS status change to "Application Received" from "In Process". It will again change to "In Process" again when they start processing the file. That's when you see Line 2 "We started processing your application on XXXX". I hope this helps.

thanks for the info. Yea last week got file transferred to local office(Ankara, wife’s from Iran), biometrics request and medical request in a span of two days. She already did the medical and it was updated as passed and she’s giving her biometrics on Tuesday. I’ve read a few places that ecas isn’t reliable and to pay attention more to gckey. Is there any truth to that? Thanks again.

You have to check both of them. Medical gets updated both on GCKey (You passed the medical) and ECAS (Line 3:medical results received). While Biometrics get updated only on GCKey. If they request any additional documents I believe it's get updated on both.

Also, Biometric gets update realtime, same day (mostly). Also look out for "Application Profile Updated" (ghost update) on GCKey. If you see that someone is working on your application.
