Hello,

I have a concern which i would love for you to advise me on.

I have a 7 year old child and a single mother. I have never been married.

I want to confirm if i come to Canada to study for my masters, and i bring my child along with me, is his education going to be free?

I read that free education is available for permanent residents up to the age of 18, but if I'm coming to school, it'd be on a study visa. Would that qualify my kid for free education? or I'd have to pay for his schooling.

Yes, he will attend public school for free. Bear in mind that( depending on the province you are going to) you might have to pay for health insurance cover for him.

On the side, since he is only 7 and you will be attending school full time, his before and after school care is not free.
Childcare is pretty expensive in Canada.

Plus there is legal age of minimum 12 years to leave a child alone at home unsupervised. that is the law across many province. Before and after school day care is expensive, and you should consider all that.
