Forner "Skilled Worker" vs Express entry

Hello

Does the "Skilled Worker" class for Immigration where you have to wait for couple of years to get approval for PR Visa still available as an option fot immigration or the only way for Skilled workers class nowadays is the "Express Entry" process where you get response within 180 days as stated in CIC Web site processing time? I am a bit confused.

Federal Skilled Worker ended on December 31st 2014. Express Entry is the alternative program launched on January 1st 2015 as stated on CIC website.

it means Skilled Workers class became a sort of competition, where candidates will be ranked against others in the pool using a point-based system.

Does that mean only "to be immediately hired" candidates by Canadian employers will get an immigration visa or not necessarily ?
