Hi

So we kind of got messed up by CIC. We sent our forms into Mississauga on July 31st. I got a signed confirmation from Canada post when we sent via Xpresspost.

They only looked at our application today and because they looked at it now our forms had already become outdated. So they sent it back.

Only problem is they received it on July 31st and then sent me an email saying that any applications received after August 1st need to have the updated 08-2014 forms.

The guy from the call centre just told me what do you want me to do about it? There's nothing we can do. Just put in the updated form and send it back.

So now I'm worried because we have already waited all this time. Our criminal check and medical check will have expired by the time they get the forms back the second time.

Do I have to get all new paperwork and get it translated again because of this now?

This has been pretty frustrating and we feel powerless in this situation now because of what they did.

Any insight is much appreciated. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear what happened to you...
being caught in a situation like that is painful.... will delay your process,
but keep calm...God knows what is the perfect time...
Everything happen for a reason...
As a matter of fact, even if you have a confirmation of received from Canada Post stating that
they deliver the package by july 31st, the actual date when the Immigration Office received it
was a few days later...
Being in the building does not necessary mean that it has been received by the respective office,
then, the date that counts is when they officially enter your file into the system,
which common sense indicates that the date was in august already,
and you need to send updated forms....
Nothing that you can do about it...
what I would do is to send the same certificates,
and try to get updated ones,
at this stage they will evaluate the sponsor, and
when the file goes to the respective visa office abroad, then they will check the validity of the documents,
meanwhile you can send updated documents to be attached to your file to your visa office...

that will save you sometime...

And will be the easier way to solve the problem and save some time,

Good luck, and again, every thing happens for a reason,
Your visa will be ready in the exact moment that is meant to be ready,

Blessings

Hi! We have the same application date received by CIC. We sent it on July 29 and the confirmed received (via courier) is July 31st. But haven't heard anything yet from CIC till now.

Did they send you the email just now?

I believe they are only asking for one updated form? IMM1344 Correct? I hope they didn't send your whole package back to you. From what I have read, you only have to do the updated form and get it signed and courier it back with the letter so that it gets to your file right away. Others on here have done this pretty quickly...unless of course you need signatures from people not in the country...which would take longer. Hopefully they won't ask for updated forms for other things...but by then, it is at the next stage after the sponsorship approval and can be done then. I too am waiting for them to send me the email to update my form...but I already prepared the new form and got the signatures. You can be sure that it will be back to their office within 24 hours from the email receipt!!! ;D

My application (with the old IMM1344) was received on August 6th and they sent my husband an email on Aug 27th asking us to mail in the updated form. The email stayed that anything RECEIVED after August 1st had to have the new form, even if it wasn't available when you mailed it? Pretty strange requirement in my opinion. Did they actually send your whole application back? I'm really sorry to hear that.

Strange indeed. Even those who sent in applications in July and was signed and received in July are getting the request. But as mentioned above, it depends when it hits someone's desk. That is the real "receipt" date. I agree it is a silly process and does not leave anything to anyone's discretion (despite the extremely minor change to the form that does not impact many applicants). Certainly poor from a customer service standpoint. Unfortunately they just issue form letters and follow strict rules on what documents are valid. However, there really is not choice and you can only be prepared and ready to send in the new forms, despite the frustration of the delay.

Alicia13, have you updated the spreadsheet with your application timing for August?

I'm not too sure which one I have to do, send just the one form or the entire thing. They sent me two letters one asking for me to send it in alone and another stating that they they are sending the entire package back as it meet their guidelines as per section 12 and cannot be considered submitted at this point.

I have read that others have received the two letters as well. So I will assume for now that you have not received your whole package back?

And I believe that the second email is the one that only asks that the one form be updated and couriered in. So for now, I would just get the one form updated and courier it back to them right away to keep your application in process.

Ah okay that's sounds like a plan. I will send them the new form asap. Thank you :)

Read the 2 letters again, it says that you have 40 days to send in the updated form or you COULD face having your entire application returned. I received 2 letters by email too. Providing you send the new form in ASAP you won't lose your spot in line and should only be delayed slightly.

Hi OneMoreTime,
Thanks for sharing the August 2014 thread with me! I actually looked for it when I applied but I guess as I was one of the earlier applicants it didn't exist at the time. I have commented on the thread and I hope someone can add me into the spreadsheet.

Thanks and good luck!

When feturning forms they give you the date you have to have them in by. Now this all depends on the VO you get. Some forms gets attached very quickly and some wait till the 40 days have passed then re open your file . This is what they did to me. I am now 2 months behind. I didn't get my whole application back, just one form i missed from my step son who is not even coming to Canada . I was not happy to say the least as i realized i had forgotten the form so had my step son sign it and i sent it off the next day.

Thanks! Hope that everything will be fine in your application after you sent the updated form. Goodluck to all of us! ;D

Oh wow, that is interesting, good to know that there is that possibility.
I hope you don't get delayed any further! Good luck
